Mr. Maurice Edward Hill, 87, died Monday night (February 1, 2010) at Satilla Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born in Waycross where he lived most of his life. He was formerly employed as an iron worker with the Iron Workers Local 597 in Jacksonville, FL. He served in the United States Army during World War II, and he was a member of Winona Park United Methodist Church and Woodmen of the World. He is the son of the late Jesse H. Hill and Irene Cason Hill. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Evelyn Herrin Hill; and a son, Ray Edward Hill. Survivors include his wife, Wanda Dixon Hill of Waycross; one step-son, James Benny Lee (wife Susan) of Tifton; one sister, Juanita Anderson of Waycross; three grandchildren, Kelly Lee (wife Missy) of Tifton, Matt Lee (wife Candi) of Blackshear, and Adam Lee of Valdosta; three great grandchildren, Jackie Lee, Thomas Lee and Mattie Lee; and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday (February 4, 2010) at Kettle Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday at Music Funeral Home.
